Above is my Grandma Minnie. At age eleven she was human trafficked from her starving family in Russia, to the USA by steerage. 

IT WAS HORRENDOUS CROWDING AND SHE HAD LITTLE FOOD OR WATER. 

We know almost nothing of her family in Russia that starved.  Her father was a Rabbi and taught her to read and write Yiddish.  But this is all I know.  When she arrived here at age eleven, her life was one of enslavement in the NYC Garment Center.  I know she was raped repeatedly.  I know she and her best friend Fannie somehow survived being burned alive by jumping out of a window during an infamous fire.  Their injuries were very serious!!!  All workers were locked in so the managers could see how often they went to a bathroom. MAN has been using others as slaves since time immemorial.  It is a vile testimonial to the worst in our species.  It never stopped throughout the ages.  It continues up to this moment of writing. It doesn't care if you are any race, religion, or culture. It is an abomination!!!!  RIP Grandma Minnie.  YES, you suffered beyond words.  And once you attained adulthood, you were a very domineering woman who bossed others around. In fact, you were a controlling woman who caused many to suffer under your authority.  I still grieve knowing what your childhood caused you to become.
